My name is Violeta Zamora Agg, I’m the illustrator behind the Violeta Bloom brand.

I am from Costa Rica, a beautiful country right in the middle of the American continent. Nature is a great source of inspiration for my work, especially animals. I attribute this affection of nature to my outdoor experiences, living in a place with such a high diversity of flora and fauna. I have always been curious about the world, and I try to bring the colors, shapes, and textures that inspire me to my illustrations. Traveling the world has helped define my work and how I want to live my life; the universe of my images feed from these experiences and personal viewpoint.

From all the places I have lived, Florence (Italy) and Bournemouth (England) are the two that have impacted my life the most. In Florence, I reconnected with my love for drawing and in Bournemouth I discovered that I wanted to become an Illustrator.

One quiet afternoon while wondering around the swirling alleys of Florence, I unexpectedly discovered a beautiful art supply store in Via Servi and felt compelled to enter the store. Florence was too beautiful and at times too overwhelming and I knew I couldn’t contain what I was seeing with just photographs; I needed to capture my reaction with a drawing and equipped with my new supplies…I did.

I went back to our apartment and sat near a window that had the best view of the street. A set of bikes were aligned without much care, they looked like a reunion of old friends talking to each other about their busy day in the city. With this simple arrangement I found myself drawing again.

My husband and I moved to Bournemouth, England where I took a short course - The Art of Illustration at Bournemouth Arts University. It didn’t take long to realize that I wanted to become a professional illustrator.

From that moment on I have developed a portfolio that has a classic style with a modern twist; suitable for children, teens and adults.

Along with my beloved Florence and the English countryside, I’m inspired by vintage home décor and children’s illustrations, along with nature, outdoor activities, good food, good music, wellness, traveling and overall interactions that speak to the best side of our human nature.

My previous work as a journalist, art director and media producer have enriched my current practice as a storyteller where the aim is to produce images that connect emotionally with people, with the hope of delivering happiness and joy.

Courage is like a muscle. We strengthen it with use.
